Moving to Windsor brings its own particular challenges. Whether you're navigating the automotive industry jobs that draw so many newcomers here, or managing the paperwork and uncertainty of settlement, there's a weight that comes with building a life in a new country. The stress of finding work, learning a new system, missing home, and wondering if you're doing enough for your family—these feelings are real and deserve real support.
LK Psychotherapy is here to meet you where you are. We're a multilingual, BIPOC-led practice that works virtually with Windsor clients who want therapy that actually gets their context. Your culture, your migration story, your lived experience—these aren't things you need to explain away or translate into clinical terms. They're the foundation of how we work together.
Moving to Windsor brings unique challenges that can weigh heavily on your mental health. Whether you're adjusting to a new job in the automotive industry, reconnecting with family in one of the city's vibrant cultural communities, or navigating the gap between your credentials and available opportunities, the stress compounds quickly. Many newcomers in Windsor face isolation, underemployment, and the pressure to establish stability while managing homesickness and grief about what was left behind.
This experience, known as acculturation stress, often goes unaddressed. In many immigrant communities, mental health struggles carry shame, and seeking help can feel like a betrayal of family values or cultural identity. Language barriers make it harder to express complex emotions, and some people understandably distrust Western mental health systems based on past experiences or different healing traditions in their home countries. When you're in survival mode, focusing on basic needs and building your new life, your own emotional well-being gets pushed to the side.
LK Psychotherapy understands this reality. Our BIPOC-led, culturally responsive team works with the full context of who you are: your identity, the expectations placed on you by family, the displacement you're navigating, and your resilience. We create space to process both the practical and emotional dimensions of immigration without judgment, helping you build a life in Windsor that honors where you've been and where you're headed.
Our founder's own journey as an immigrant in Canada is the foundation of our clinical approach. We are not learning about your experience from a textbook.
LK Psychotherapy was founded by Lethicia Foadjo, an immigrant and MSW RSW whose personal experience shapes a practice built for people whose stories are not the default.
Language and faith matter in therapy. Our team brings cultural fluency across multiple languages and an awareness of religious and community contexts that affect how healing happens.
We do not just welcome diversity. We actively work against the systems that make it harder for immigrants, racialized people, and newcomers to access quality care and thrive in it.

Acculturation stress refers to the psychological impact of adapting to a new culture, including language pressure, shifting values and norms, loss of community and support networks, discrimination, and the exhaustion of constantly navigating an unfamiliar environment. Research consistently shows that immigrants face higher rates of depression, anxiety, and isolation, particularly in the first years of settlement. LK Psychotherapy takes an affirming, non-stigmatizing approach to working with acculturation stress and the grief of displacement.
Yes. LK Psychotherapy has multilingual clinicians on staff and takes language and cultural background into account when matching clients to their therapist. We understand that doing therapeutic work in a second language adds an additional layer of difficulty and that some concepts do not translate directly across cultures. Please mention your language preference during your free consultation and we will do our best to accommodate you.
