Immigrant Mental Health Therapy in London, Ontario

Moving to London, Ontario brings unique challenges. You're navigating a new city while managing the invisible weight of displacement, cultural adjustment, and the pressure to rebuild your life from scratch. Whether you're connecting with London's growing Portuguese and Latin American communities or finding your way through settlement services that don't quite speak your language, the emotional toll is real. Loneliness, grief, and uncertainty can feel isolating when no one around you shares your reference points.

LK Psychotherapy exists because your mental health matters in ways that go beyond surface-level coping. We're a multilingual, BIPOC-led practice offering therapy online to London clients who deserve space where their immigration story isn't background information. Your culture, your losses, your resilience, your lived experience as an immigrant or newcomer becomes the foundation of our work together, not something we add in later.

About This Service in London

Therapy That Holds Your Whole Story, Including Where You Come From

Moving to London, Ontario brings both opportunity and significant stress. Newcomers and immigrants often face multiple pressures at once: finding stable employment in unfamiliar job markets, navigating housing shortages, managing financial strain, and rebuilding social networks from scratch. For many in London's growing immigrant communities, particularly those concentrated in specific neighborhoods, the isolation can feel overwhelming. These challenges don't simply fade once you've settled in. They accumulate, affecting sleep, relationships, and your sense of belonging in a place that should feel like home.

What researchers call acculturation stress is the emotional weight of straddling two worlds while trying to survive in a new one. Many immigrants in London struggle silently because seeking help feels impossible or unsafe. Language barriers make it hard to express what you're experiencing. There's often stigma within your own cultural community about mental health. Some people have learned not to trust systems that haven't served them well before. And honestly, when you're working multiple jobs or managing family expectations from across the world, therapy can feel like a luxury you can't afford to prioritize, even when you desperately need it.

LK Psychotherapy understands these realities because our clinicians have lived them. We work with immigrant and newcomer clients in London by centering your cultural identity, not as something separate from your mental health, but as central to your healing. We help you navigate the specific pressures you face: family expectations that may conflict with your own values, grief about what you've left behind, and the complicated process of building a new identity. You don't have to explain your background to us or justify why you're struggling. You can be fully yourself here.

Why LK Psychotherapy

Why Immigrants in London Choose LK Psychotherapy

Our founder's own journey as an immigrant in Canada is the foundation of our clinical approach. We are not learning about your experience from a textbook.

Founded by an Immigrant, For Communities Like Yours

LK Psychotherapy was founded by Lethicia Foadjo, an immigrant and MSW RSW whose personal experience shapes a practice built for people whose stories are not the default.

Multilingual and Multi-Faith Aware

Language and faith matter in therapy. Our team brings cultural fluency across multiple languages and an awareness of religious and community contexts that affect how healing happens.

Anti-Oppressive, Not Just Inclusive

We do not just welcome diversity. We actively work against the systems that make it harder for immigrants, racialized people, and newcomers to access quality care and thrive in it.

Acculturation stress refers to the psychological impact of adapting to a new culture, including language pressure, shifting values and norms, loss of community and support networks, discrimination, and the exhaustion of constantly navigating an unfamiliar environment. Research consistently shows that immigrants face higher rates of depression, anxiety, and isolation, particularly in the first years of settlement. LK Psychotherapy takes an affirming, non-stigmatizing approach to working with acculturation stress and the grief of displacement.

Yes. LK Psychotherapy has multilingual clinicians on staff and takes language and cultural background into account when matching clients to their therapist. We understand that doing therapeutic work in a second language adds an additional layer of difficulty and that some concepts do not translate directly across cultures. Please mention your language preference during your free consultation and we will do our best to accommodate you.
