LK Psychotherapy Mental Health Workshops & Community Events
We believe that mental health support extends beyond individual therapy sessions. Our mental health workshops, therapy support groups, and community events create opportunities for connection, shared learning, and collective healing. Whether you’re seeking support for specific challenges, wanting to deepen your understanding through educational seminars, or looking for professional development as a clinician, our programming is designed to be accessible, culturally responsive, and grounded in evidence-based practices.
All events are facilitated by qualified professionals from LK Psychotherapy & Clinical Services. We create inclusive spaces that honor diverse experiences and identities, with particular attention to supporting BIPOC communities, military members and veterans, first responders, and other underserved populations. Our community support groups and educational programming provide safe, confidential environments for growth and healing.
Types of Mental Health Events We Offer
Our programming includes several formats designed to meet different needs and learning styles. Therapy support groups provide ongoing peer connection and facilitated processing around shared experiences like trauma recovery, grief, chronic illness, or life transitions. Mental health workshops offer focused skill-building and education on specific topics in concentrated timeframes, addressing areas such as anxiety management, relationship skills, or stress reduction. Educational seminars present evidence-based information about conditions, treatment approaches, and wellness strategies. Webinars make content accessible to those who prefer online participation or live outside our local area.
Professional training supports clinicians, counselors, and other helping professionals in developing specialized skills through continuing education programming. Events may be offered in-person at our Belleville location, virtually via secure video platform, or in hybrid formats. We provide both single-session offerings and multi-week series depending on the topic and format. Some community support groups are free to the community, while others have registration fees to cover materials and facilitator time.

Therapy Support Groups for Connection & Healing
Our therapy support groups provide safe, confidential spaces for people navigating similar experiences to connect, share, and support one another. Groups are facilitated by licensed therapists who create structure, ensure safety, and offer clinical perspective while honoring the wisdom that comes from lived experience. Topics may include trauma recovery, grief and loss, chronic illness, caregiver support, BIPOC mental health, military and first responder wellness, relationship challenges, and anxiety or depression support.
Support groups typically meet weekly or biweekly for 90-minute sessions over the course of 8 to 12 weeks, though some operate as ongoing open groups. We maintain small group sizes to ensure everyone has opportunity to participate meaningfully. While groups aren’t individual therapy, they provide therapeutic benefits through connection, normalization, skill-sharing, and mutual support that complements your existing treatment or serves as a first step toward healing.
If you’re interested in a support group but don’t see one currently scheduled that fits your needs, please let us know. We develop programming based on community interest and may be able to organize a group if there’s sufficient participation. Community support groups offer powerful opportunities for healing that individual work alone cannot provide.
Mental Health Workshops & Educational Seminars
Our mental health workshops and seminars provide focused education on topics relevant to our community. We’ve offered events on understanding anxiety and depression, recognizing trauma responses, building resilience, improving relationship communication, supporting children’s mental health, navigating life transitions, and developing self-compassion. Workshop topics are selected based on community needs, current events, and areas where accessible education can make meaningful difference.
Educational mental health seminars are typically 60 to 90 minutes and focus on providing information, answering questions, and offering practical takeaways you can implement immediately. Workshops are usually 2 to 4 hours and include more interactive components like skill practice, small group discussion, and experiential exercises. Both formats welcome questions and create space for participants to engage with material in ways that feel relevant to their lives.
We prioritize creating educational programming that is accessible to people without clinical training. While we don’t shy away from complex topics, we present information in clear, practical language and connect concepts to real-world application. Participants leave with both understanding and actionable strategies they can use to support their wellbeing and that of their loved ones.
Professional Training & Clinical Development
LK Psychotherapy offers professional development programming for clinicians, counselors, social workers, educators, healthcare providers, and other helping professionals. Our training draws on specialized expertise in trauma-informed care, cultural responsiveness, anti-oppressive practice, attachment-based approaches, and working with military and first responder populations through targeted learning experiences.
Professional training may include continuing education workshops, consultation groups, case consultation services, and customized training for organizations. Topics we’ve presented include implementing trauma-informed practices, addressing vicarious trauma and burnout, conducting culturally responsive assessment and treatment, integrating attachment theory into clinical work, and supporting clients with complex PTSD through evidence-based interventions.
Many of our professional offerings qualify for continuing education credits for registered social workers, psychotherapists, and other regulated health professionals. We can also develop customized training for your organization addressing specific learning objectives or practice needs. For more information about professional training opportunities, please visit our Consulting & Training page or contact us directly.
Community Outreach & Mental Health Education
We’re committed to making mental health education accessible beyond those who can access individual therapy. Our community outreach programming brings information to schools, workplaces, community centers, faith communities, and other settings. We present on topics like recognizing mental health concerns, supporting someone in crisis, building workplace mental health, addressing stigma, and connecting with appropriate resources.
Community education events are often offered free of charge as part of our commitment to reducing barriers to information and support. We believe that accessible education supports prevention, early intervention, and community capacity to respond to mental health needs with compassion and competence. These offerings create ripple effects that extend far beyond individual participants.
If your organization is interested in hosting educational programming, we’d be happy to discuss possibilities. We can present to groups ranging from small teams to large audiences and adapt content to your community’s specific needs and interests through customized learning experiences.
Virtual Mental Health Events & Online Support
Our virtual programming expands access for people who live outside the Belleville area, have mobility limitations, prefer the convenience of participating from home, or simply feel more comfortable in online spaces. Online offerings use secure video platforms that protect participant privacy while enabling real-time interaction through chat, Q&A features, and sometimes breakout discussions.
Virtual sessions follow the same quality standards as in-person programming. Facilitators create engagement, respond to questions thoughtfully, and work to build connection even through screens. Many participants find that virtual formats actually reduce barriers and allow them to engage more fully than they might in person, especially when managing anxiety, childcare, or transportation challenges.
Recorded sessions may be made available for a limited time after live events for those unable to attend the scheduled time. We balance this accessibility with privacy considerations, particularly for groups where participants share personal experiences. Virtual community support groups maintain the same confidentiality standards as in-person groups.
How to Register for Mental Health Events
When programming is scheduled, registration information will be provided with each event listing. Most offerings require advance registration to ensure we can accommodate all participants appropriately and send any pre-event materials or connection information. Some groups have limited capacity to maintain quality of experience, so early registration is encouraged for our most popular sessions.
Registration typically involves completing a brief form with your contact information and any relevant details we need to serve you well, such as accessibility requirements or specific questions you hope the session will address. You’ll receive confirmation of registration along with event details, connection information for virtual offerings, and any materials to review beforehand.
We understand that circumstances change. If you need to cancel your registration, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your spot to someone on a waitlist. For paid events, our cancellation and refund policy will be clearly stated during registration.
Accessibility & Accommodations for All Events
We’re committed to making our programming accessible to all who wish to participate. Our Belleville office location at 48 Dundas Street West, Suite 2 is accessible, with considerations for mobility, sensory needs, and other access requirements. Virtual options provide additional accessibility for those for whom in-person attendance would be challenging.
If you have specific accessibility needs, please let us know during registration or by contacting us in advance. This might include ASL interpretation, materials in alternative formats, dietary considerations for events with refreshments, quiet spaces for sensory breaks, or other accommodations. We’ll work with you to ensure you can participate fully.
We also recognize that financial accessibility matters. When possible, we offer programming free of charge or on a sliding scale basis. If cost is a barrier to participation in a paid event that would benefit you, please reach out to discuss options.
