Short Biography

Dawn Reid, MDiv, BSW | Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

About Dawn

Dawn Reid is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with 3 years of experience supporting adults through some of life’s most complex emotional and relational challenges. She brings a deeply integrative, person-centered philosophy to her work, one rooted in the belief that every person already carries an inner wisdom capable of guiding their healing. Dawn’s style is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental, and she approaches each client as the expert of their own life. Her diverse educational background, cross-cultural professional experience, and faith-informed values combine to create a therapeutic presence that is both grounded and genuinely compassionate.

Education & Training

Dawn holds a Master of Divinity in Counselling from Tyndale University, completed in 2024, and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of the West Indies, Mona, completed in 2005. Her training spans both clinical mental health counseling and social work, giving her a broad, human-centered lens on well-being and healing. She has received specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and draws from an extensive range of evidence-based modalities in her clinical practice. Dawn is a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP).

Who They Serve

Dawn works with adults ages 18 and older navigating trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and the everyday weight of emotional complexity. She is particularly well-suited for individuals and couples seeking a therapist who honors their personal values, lived experiences, and cultural background as central to the healing process. Clients who appreciate a faith-sensitive and relationally attuned approach often find her care especially meaningful.

Professional Experience

Dawn is currently practicing within a group practice setting, where she provides individual and couples therapy to adult clients. Prior to her clinical training, she held meaningful roles working with Indigenous communities in Canada as both an Employment Counsellor and a Family Support Worker. In those roles, she built relationships grounded in cultural respect, participated in community activities, and deepened her understanding of the lasting impacts of residential schools on individuals and intergenerational family systems. This cross-cultural foundation enriches her clinical perspective and her commitment to providing care that is sensitive to each client’s unique background and history.

Personal Touch

Dawn is drawn to the mental health field by a deep curiosity about human behavior and a genuine desire to walk alongside people through difficulty. Her Christian faith is central to this calling, shaping her belief that every person holds inherent worth, dignity, and purpose. She does not come to therapy as the expert with all the answers; she comes as a thoughtful companion who listens with intention, offers evidence-based tools, and trusts each client to lead the way toward their own growth. Outside of clinical work, Dawn is passionately invested in helping people build and sustain fulfilling relationships at every stage of life.
