Careers

Join a practice that values clinical excellence, cultural responsiveness, and authentic therapeutic relationships. LK Psychotherapy offers student placement opportunities for BSW and MSW candidates, contractor partnerships for experienced therapists, and associate positions for clinicians who share our commitment to trauma-informed, anti-oppressive care. If you’re looking for a professional home that supports both your growth and your values, we’d love to hear from you.

Join Our Team at LK Psychotherapy

At LK Psychotherapy & Clinical Services, we’re building something different. A practice where clinical excellence meets cultural humility. Where trauma-informed care is standard, not exceptional. Where therapists have the autonomy to practice authentically while being supported by a collaborative team. Whether you’re a student beginning your journey in social work, an experienced clinician seeking contractor opportunities, or a therapist looking for an associate position, we invite you to explore joining our community.

Founded in 2021 by Lethicia Foadjo, MSW, RSW, our practice emerged from the recognition that many people, particularly those from marginalized communities, struggle to find therapists who understand the intersectionality of their experiences. We center BIPOC voices, honor diverse identities, and practice from an explicitly anti-oppressive framework. We work with individuals, couples, families, and groups navigating trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the particular stresses faced by high-performers, military members, first responders, and those healing from systemic oppression.

Our Clinical Approach & Practice Values

We practice integrative, trauma-informed therapy drawing from multiple modalities including psychodynamic therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, somatic and body-based approaches, and attachment-based interventions. We don’t require adherence to a single theoretical orientation but expect clinicians to practice evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s unique needs and cultural context.

Our practice is grounded in several core values. We believe in cultural responsiveness and anti-oppressive practice, recognizing that therapy cannot be separated from the social contexts in which our clients live. We honor the inherent worth and expertise of every client, practicing from a stance of humility and ongoing learning. We understand that healing happens in relationship, and we invest in authentic therapeutic connections rather than transactional service delivery.

We’re committed to practitioner wellbeing alongside client care. We know that sustainable practice requires reasonable caseloads, clinical support, and protection from the burnout that plagues our field. We offer 60-minute sessions as standard rather than the rushed 50-minute hour, allowing time for depth and presence. We support our team through regular consultation, professional development opportunities, and a practice culture that values both excellence and self-care.

BSW & MSW Student Placement Opportunities

LK Psychotherapy is proud to offer field placement opportunities for Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work students. We provide comprehensive supervision from a Registered Social Worker in good standing, with particular expertise in trauma-informed practice, cultural responsiveness, and working with diverse populations including BIPOC communities, military and veteran families, and LGBTQ+ individuals.

Student placements at our practice offer exposure to multiple therapeutic modalities and client presentations. You’ll gain experience in individual therapy with adults and adolescents, couples and family work, group facilitation, assessment and treatment planning, crisis intervention, and consultation with other professionals. We work with clients presenting with trauma and PTSD, anxiety and depression, relationship challenges, grief and loss, life transitions, and complex presentations involving multiple intersecting issues.

Our supervision model emphasizes both clinical skill development and reflective practice. You’ll receive regular one-on-one supervision focused on case conceptualization, intervention planning, and therapeutic relationship dynamics. We also provide group supervision opportunities where you can learn from peers and develop consultation skills. We support your integration of theory and practice, helping you develop your own therapeutic voice while building competence in evidence-based approaches.

Beyond direct clinical work, placement students participate in practice operations including documentation, treatment planning, outcome monitoring, and interdisciplinary collaboration. You’ll learn about ethical decision-making in complex situations, boundary management, cultural considerations in assessment and treatment, and the business aspects of private practice. We aim to prepare you not just for your first job but for a sustainable, fulfilling career in social work.

What We Look for in Placement Students

We seek students who are committed to anti-oppressive practice and willing to engage in ongoing self-examination about their own social locations, privileges, and biases. You should be curious, humble, and open to feedback. We value students who can tolerate ambiguity, sit with difficult emotions, and maintain appropriate boundaries while being genuinely present with clients. Strong communication skills, reliability, and professional maturity are essential.

We particularly welcome applications from students who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, newcomers to Canada, or who bring lived experience that enhances our capacity to serve diverse communities. We’re committed to increasing diversity in the mental health professions and supporting students who may have faced barriers in accessing educational and professional opportunities.

How to Apply for Student Placements

If you’re interested in a BSW or MSW placement at LK Psychotherapy, please contact us with the following information: your current program and expected completion date, your previous relevant experience (including volunteer work, personal experiences that inform your interest in this field, and any prior placements), your learning goals for the placement, and what draws you to our practice specifically. Please also indicate your availability and any scheduling constraints related to coursework or other commitments.

We accept applications on a rolling basis and typically plan placements one to two semesters in advance. Given that we’re a small practice, we have limited placement capacity and encourage early application. We’re happy to arrange informal conversations with prospective students to discuss whether our practice would be a good fit for your learning needs.

To inquire about student placements, please email your letter of interest and current CV to hello@lkpsychotherapy.ca with “Student Placement Inquiry” in the subject line.

Contractor & Associate Therapist Opportunities

We periodically have openings for contractor therapists and associate positions as our practice grows and as we identify specializations that would enhance our capacity to serve our community. Contractor positions involve an independent business relationship where you maintain your own registration, insurance, and business operations while practicing under the LK Psychotherapy name and benefiting from our administrative support, referral network, and clinical community.

Associate positions may be structured as contractor or employment relationships depending on experience level, licensure status, and practice needs. Associates typically receive more intensive clinical supervision and practice support, making these roles particularly suitable for provisionally registered clinicians working toward full registration or experienced therapists new to private practice.

What We Offer Our Clinical Team

Clinicians at LK Psychotherapy benefit from a supportive practice environment designed to sustain quality care. We provide administrative support including scheduling, billing, electronic health records management, and client communications, allowing you to focus on clinical work rather than practice management logistics. We maintain a professional office space in downtown Belleville with access to both in-person and secure telehealth platforms.

We offer regular clinical consultation and peer supervision opportunities where you can discuss complex cases, seek feedback, and continue developing your skills. We support ongoing professional development through funding or time allocation for training, workshops, and continuing education. We also provide marketing and practice development support, helping establish your presence in the community and maintain a full caseload.

Perhaps most importantly, we offer clinical autonomy within a collaborative framework. You maintain authority over your clinical decisions, theoretical orientation, and practice style while benefiting from connection with colleagues who understand the challenges and rewards of this work. We aim to create the kind of practice environment we wished existed when we started our careers.

What We Look for in Contractors & Associates

We seek clinicians who share our commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive practice. You should hold or be eligible for registration with a relevant regulatory college (College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists, etc.) and maintain appropriate professional liability insurance. We require demonstrated clinical competence through either supervised experience or established independent practice.

Beyond credentials, we value clinicians who bring humility, authenticity, and genuine care for clients. We look for therapists who can hold complexity, tolerate uncertainty, and sit with clients in their pain without rushing to fix or rescue. We appreciate diverse theoretical orientations but require evidence-based practice and willingness to participate in ongoing consultation and outcome monitoring.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from clinicians who bring specialized expertise that complements our current team, whether that’s particular training in specific modalities, experience with populations we serve, language capacity beyond English and French, or lived experience that enhances our cultural responsiveness. We’re committed to building a diverse team that reflects the communities we serve.

Current Openings & How to Express Interest

While we may not always have immediate openings, we maintain a file of applications from qualified clinicians and reach out when positions become available. If you’re interested in joining our team, we encourage you to submit your materials even if no specific position is currently posted. This allows us to contact you when opportunities arise that match your qualifications and interests.

To express interest in contractor or associate positions, please send a cover letter and CV to hello@LKpsychotherapy.ca with “Contractor/Associate Interest” in the subject line. In your cover letter, please address: your theoretical orientation and clinical approach, your experience and areas of specialization, what draws you to LK Psychotherapy specifically, and what you hope to gain from or contribute to a practice like ours.

Please also indicate your current registration status, professional liability insurance coverage, and preferred practice structure (contractor versus employment relationship). If you have specific scheduling constraints or requirements, please mention those as well. We respond to all applications, though response time may vary depending on current practice needs and capacity.

Our Commitment to Equity & Inclusion

LK Psychotherapy is committed to employment equity and actively works to create a diverse, inclusive team. We particularly encourage applications from individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of color; LGBTQ2S+ individuals; people with disabilities; immigrants and refugees; and others from communities that are underrepresented in mental health professions.

We recognize that lived experience of marginalization provides valuable perspective that enhances clinical work, particularly with clients facing similar challenges. We also acknowledge that systemic barriers may have affected your access to education, credentials, or traditional markers of professional success. We’re committed to looking beyond conventional criteria to recognize the full range of qualifications and strengths you bring.

If you require accommodation during the application or interview process, please let us know and we’ll work with you to ensure accessibility. If you have questions about whether your background or experience aligns with our practice needs, we encourage you to reach out. We’re happy to discuss possibilities and help you assess fit.
